Not everyone who reads this considers themselves a person of faith, and that's okay. But here's what I'll say anyway: the guys who rebuild their lives and keep it rebuilt — who sustain the income, the health, the family relationships, the purpose — almost always have something bigger than themselves driving it.
For some guys it's God. For others it's a commitment to service. For others it's the principle of leaving something better than you found it. The label matters less than the reality.
